Intentions

A series of management objectives spanning four categories have been developed in line with the vision for 10 Acre Wood.           

The objectives are as follows:

WOODLAND MANAGEMENT OBJECTIVES

Maintain site as a broad leaf wood, re-planting with native species when/where necessary as far as is practicable

Enhance the wildlife value

Involve local people with the care and maintenance of the wood

Establish a nursery of native hedgerow trees and wild flowers

Develop the production of fruit, nuts, mushrooms, herbs and honey for local farmers markets

W6

Establish charcoal production for sale at the gate or local markets

 

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

Increase awareness of The Forest School and its aims

Continue to build relationships within all aspects of

the local and regional communities to encourage social

wellbeing through volunteer work and general involvement with The Forest School

Ed 3

Establish a ‘Friends of the Forest Fund’ to help with the substantial running costs of restoring and maintaining 10 acres of ancient woodland

Ed 4

Increase visitor awareness and understanding of wider

environmental, ecological, heritage and general countryside

issues.
